
A big part of my journey to understand Canada better is to find the people I call yesterday’s liberals. These were my people for most of my life. They’re the ones who identified with the left side of the political project but now find themselves in firm opposition to the new progressive, successor ideology currently holding centre stage.

In November of 2023, Canada’s home grown Munk Debates hosted an event with the resolution, “Be it resolved, don’t trust mainstream media”.
I have come to see viewpoint diversity, not so much as something nice to strive for, but rather as one of the most basic necessities required to make sense of the world.
If an institution is too slow to respond to necessary change, it will perish. The same is true if it doesn’t respect the portions of the status quo that are working properly to keep it alive.
The amount of information presently available to the general public, on a minute by minute basis, is incomparable to the past.
